INAUGURAL FUNDRAISING GALA SHINES A LIGHT ON 50 YEARS OF SERVICE

UNITED VETERAN’S COALITION OF COLORADO’S INAUGURAL FUNDRAISING GALA SHINES A LIGHT ON 50 YEARS OF SERVICE

October 15, 2022 — Marking 50 years of service to the Veteran and military community of Colorado, members and guests of the United Veterans Coalition of Colorado joined UVCOC President Richard Young, RADM, USN RET and UVC Leadership for a remarkable night of celebration at the incredible ROCKIES GAYLORD Resort & Conference Center.

At this inaugural fundraising event, over 160 guests gathered to honor the UVC’s legacy and to help raise funds that will assist the UVC in continuing their mission here in Colorado.  Given a turbulent year, a challenging economy, and an abrupt change from the UVC banquet of years past to, for the first time, an actual fundraising event, the UVC Gala Planning Team was pleased with the outcome of the event.  Comments on the Gala were positive overall and, after all expenses were paid, over $12,000 will be added to the UVC.

A Dynamic Silent Auction Helped The UVC Reach The Finish Line

Special thanks to Captain Marti Crockett who spearheaded the Silent Auction at the event that offered an array of wonderful items from portrait packages, wine & liquor gift baskets, crafts & artwork, to amazing trips (both domestic and abroad). There was something of interest for everyone and the auction gave Gala guests the chance to participate in the fun while helping the UVC!

UVC’s Legislative Efforts Make A Strong Impact

The UVC has a strong and active Legislative Committee that continues to work effectively on behalf of Colorado’s Veteran and military community.  Gala participants had the chance to learn more about Amendment E that will appear on this year’s ballot and will, if passed, extend to Gold Star Spouses tax exemption benefits found in Colorado’s Homestead Act.

It was an honor to have the 4th Marine Logistics Group’s Marine Color Guard to support the UVC’s 50th Anniversary Gala.

A Special Night Where Both Levity And Inspiration Share The Stage

Well known radio personality, Rick Crandall (pictured left) served as the Emcee for the evening and kept things lively during the event and through the appeal. Rick also presented the keynote speaker, Tom Wheaton (pictured right). The UVC was honored to have Tom (USN) share his inspiring story of perseverance, overcoming life’s challenges, and service to others. The legislative work of the UVC that benefits the lives of our Veteran and military community is just one way that collectively we can help better their lives here in Colorado. Wheaton, also very active with the Paralyzed Veterans of America says, “Journeying together to determine how we can best assist in enhancing the lives of our nation’s heroes has been extremely rewarding.”
